TSA agents use Tampon Applicator to Scan for Weapons
A TSA agent using a tampon applicators tip-off that he has an active weapon on his person has prompted the agency to tighten up on the practice.
The TSA announced Wednesday that agents will no longer be allowed to use tampon applications as a tip-offs to TSA security personnel that they have weapons or explosives on their person.
TSA agents will now have to get clearance from a supervisor before they can tip off TSA personnel that someone is carrying weapons.
The new policy comes after a number of TSA incidents last year in which TSA agents tipped off security personnel to weapons by applying tampons to their clothes or purses.
The TSA has been under increased scrutiny since a video emerged last year showing TSA agents posing as tourists in Las Vegas and New York City to conduct a series of searches without a pat down or other screening procedure.
